# Mechtrauma ALPHA 1.2.0

Release notes:

## <mark style="color:orange;">Introduction:</mark>

1.2 is a massive update that’s been a long time in the making. The previous version was almost entirely an XML only mod. Due to performance feature limitations, this version ports most features to Lua and C#

## <mark style="color:red;">!COMPATIBILITY!</mark>

Mechtrauma <mark style="color:red;">**!WILL NOT!**</mark> work properly without these mods **installed and enabled**:

* [Modding Toolkit](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2905375979)
* [Cs For Barotrauma](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2795927223)
* [Lua For Barotrauma](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2559634234) (be sure to follow instructions for installing client side lua)&#x20;

## <mark style="color:orange;">Mechtrauma Configuration Settings</mark>

!ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL! \
The long promised Mechtrauma configuration has been implemented using the Modding Toolkit. This enables hosts to adjust game balance in the Barotrauma game settings (instead of asking me to rebalance the mod).

## <mark style="color:orange;">NEW GAMEPLAY</mark>

New features that significantly change or add new gameplay.

### <mark style="color:green;">New Power Grid</mark>&#x20;

The PowerGrid has been overhauled to include new power grid types and a custom generator component. These power types cannot be connected together but they can be converted inside a machine. For example, a steam turbine accepts steam power but produces kinetic power.

#### <mark style="color:yellow;">New Grid Types:</mark>

1. **Steam:** Vaporized water that is used to power steam devices such as turbines.
2. **Kinetic:** Physical motion that is used to power devices with mechanical shafts.
3. **Thermal:** Heat, produced by MT Reactors (TBD) that can convert water to steam)

#### <mark style="color:yellow;">Custom Generator Component:</mark>

Diesel generators have been migrated from XML to custom Lua / Cs. These changes DRAMATICALLY increase the quality of the Mechtrauma Generators as they can now respond dynamically to grid load and consume fuel based on actual load instead of a static amount.

### <mark style="color:green;">Electrical Panels and Fuses</mark>

Fuse logic for Electrical Panels has been ported from XML status effects to Lua. This significantly increases control and performance.\
\
If an electrical panel has a working fuse inside of it, it will not take deterioration or overvoltage damage (these benefits are removed if the fuse is removed or broken)\
\- Fuses receive 10% of the deterioration rate for Electrical Panels\
\- Fuses receive 1.0 DPD (damage per delta) when submerged \
\- Fuses receive 5 x Voltage DPD while overvolted. This is configurable.

### <mark style="color:green;">Diving Suits</mark>

Deterioration and EPP (Extended Pressure Protection)\
\
**Compatibility:** the Mechtrauma deterioration and extended pressure protection are applied to any items that meet all of the the following criteria: \
\* Has item tag “diving” \
\* Has item tag “deepdiving” \
\* Is currently being worn by a character in the outside clothes slot. \
This is compatible with vanilla and should allow for compatibility with most custom diving suit mods.

#### <mark style="color:yellow;">Diving Suit Deterioration:</mark>&#x20;

* Diving Suit Deterioration is now configurable in the Mechtrauma configuration menu under General settings. Instead of defining a deterioration rate, you can set the service life of a diving suit in minutes (EX: 30min service life). Setting the service life to 0.0 minutes will disable deterioration entirely.
* Service Life is calculated on condition percentage, not condition. This means that a diving suit with 100 max condition will have the same service life as a diving suit with 200 max condition. \*\* Low Pressure Suits have 2x the service life of regular suits.

#### <mark style="color:yellow;">Extended Pressure Protection (EPP):</mark>

EPP allows players to survive short exposures up to 2x the max pressure of the diving suit but exponentially damages the suit as a result. This makes low pressure suits (Dry Suit) a practical option between a diving mask and a diving suit. They are inexpensive but will provide pressure protection long enough to see you to safety in an emergency.

### <mark style="color:green;">Missions</mark>

**Peasant Prime:** High volume, low reward transport mission for cargo vessels. \
This is the first of many new cargo missions that are intended to make playing a transport vessel more viable. By increasing the cargo amount and decreasing the payout per crate, cargo missions are no longer lucrative for submarines with trivial cargo capacity.&#x20;

### <mark style="color:green;">Upgradable Machines at the Shipyard</mark>

Machines such as pumps and generators can now be upgraded and swapped at station shipyards (just like turrets). This enables players to purchase better versions of machines or just swap them out for a different color version! This will significantly improve submarine progression and customization!&#x20;

### <mark style="color:green;">Central Computer</mark>

Must be online for certain devices to function IF it is present on the sub. If a submarine does not have a central computer, devices requiring the central computer will function as though it were present. \
\
This adds an additional point of failure for critical systems and enhances engineer gameplay. It will later be expanded to contain different parts that are required for different systems (ex: communications module, navigation module, targeting systems, light and door controls, etc.)

### <mark style="color:green;">Mechtrauma Tablets</mark>

Hand held reporting tablets that significantly increase quality of life and aid in the maintenance and managing of the submarine.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://i.imgur.com/1ye0arV.png" alt=""><figcaption><p>SAMPLE REPORTS</p></figcaption></figure>

#### <mark style="color:yellow;">Maintenance Tablet:</mark>

* Power Consumption - lists devices by current power consumption
* Co2 Filter Status - lists Co2 filters by condition, missing, and broken
* Fuse Status - lists fuses by condition, missing, and broken
* Pump Status - lists Pumps, Water Gates, and Electric Motors by condition, missing, and broken. Calculates current pumping capacity percentage.

#### <mark style="color:yellow;">Medical Tablet:</mark>

* Hematology Report - Lists crew by known blood types and contents of the blood bank containers (any container with "bloodbank" tag.
* Pharmacy Report - Lists contents of the Pharmacy (any container with "pharmacy" tag) by name and amount.

### <mark style="color:green;">Mechtrauma Crates</mark>

The Mechtrauma crate system is both a visual change and somewhat altered functionality.\
Restricted contents<br>

### <mark style="color:green;">Electrocution: !EXPERIMENTAL!</mark>

As the fuse refactor significantly reduces the amount of time spent maintaining electrical panels, the electrocution mechanic is intended to make the maintenance activities more challenging and dangerous. \
The electrocution mechanic applies severe penalties for failing to repair a high power electrical panel. These penalties scale with power over 2,000kW and cause burns and fibrillation. This can result in 3rd degree burns and cardiac arrest.

## <mark style="color:orange;">New Item List:</mark>

This is a rough list and I'm confident many items are missing from it.&#x20;

## Bugs & Fixes

Since this is a new feature update, there are very few bugs and fixes that are relevant to pervious gameplay:

* Added vanilla alternative for NT amputations.
* Corrected sealed bearing recycle recipe so that it allows you to refit in stacks of 8 so that the grease consumption remains the same.&#x20;
* Expedition Suit - Was not deteriorating battery
* Steam Boiler leaking steam even when unpowered and exploding when it shouldn't
* Mechtrauma trash can being able to be purchased but not moved.
