# Oil Can

Oil Cans are small containers for storing oil. They can be stored in the inventory, but only have a stack size of one. They can be placed into [Generators](/mechtrauma/items/machines/diesel-generators.md) or a [Reduction Gear](/mechtrauma/items/machines/powertrain.md) in order to prevent them from catching on fire while running. It is recommended that they are accompanied by an [Oil Filter](/mechtrauma/dead-links/oil-filter.md) as this will slow down the rate at which oil depletes. They can be refilled an an [Oil Station](/mechtrauma/items/liquids/oil/oil-can.md) or an [Oil Transfer Truck](https://mechtraumaunstable.fandom.com/wiki/Oil_Transfer_Truck).
